Author's Notes

Fixes to the DLSuperC products are promised on a timely basis and sometimes more often than some user's ability to track. Yet, I feel an obligation to have most problems promptly fixed as soon they are discovered so as not to have these problems shared by my user community.

Fixing problems is contingent upon this author's accessibility of the appropriate operating system and the ability to repeat the failure. Some times user files must accompany a problem trouble report. I cannot always tell strictly from a user's description what solutions are necessary. A user may request that I take special security care with any user sent files as they may contain sensitive company information. If requested, I will delete them from my test database after I confirm that a fix has been successfully demonstrated.

Additionally, I do not have access to an NT system but I have contacts that can tell me when certain problems show up and when the cited problems have been fixed. I do have both a Win 98 and Win XP system under which I regularly regression test releases. There are some differences between each system but only one common released version has been necessary, in the past, to cover all Window's environments.

Most of the 5 DLSuperC programs are at a very mature level. There are feature in each that can overwhelm most users. As requirements from the user community surface, I may feel that some new item should be added. Most of the slight enhancements have been made because I felt some user productivity might result. Many enhancements are due to user interaction when deciding on a better way to make the product more useable.

I did this with DLSuperCX with a recent addition of the "Nxt Chng Sect" advance button. It seemed that the scroll bar advances were quite slow in browsing through each changed sub-report and into the next sub-report. I, also, found that adding an SQL "Dp" comment option filter to my DLSuperCTW program could aid in comparing SQL source. SQL text is more prone to multi-line commands making it an excellent candidate for DLSuperCTW plus many editing changes tends to cause lines to spill unchanged text onto adjacent lines.

Surprise! Comments from both registered and unregistered users are always welcomed. There may even be a future version planned where an occasional user might find this missing function. I like to consider features that are general in their applicability and just don't solve some particular user's problem. Let's communicate! I enjoy the exchange and promise not to bark too loud nor be too severe with the novice DLSuperC user.

Finally, many thanks to my son Darrell at Animar Interactive Inc. who has made this web site more professional than I could have. Also, thanks the number of users who have alerted me on slip ups when releasing new code updates - especially Jim Ciecko.

Ciao, (I, originally, misspelled it as I spoke it - "Chow")
